Journalism is my second career. After university I spent six years working as an equity analyst for three different banks. I hit 30 knowing I had to do something completely different. I had no idea what exactly but I headed off to Africa and South East Asia to give it some thought.
A year later, I had enrolled at the University of Westminster to study journalism. After a brief stint in the trade press, I was lucky enough to land a two-year contract as a trainee economics and business correspondent on The Guardian's business desk.
That came to end at the start of 2006. Since then I've been working as a freelancer. I write features for both the trade and national press, specialising in commercial property, technology, investment, pensions, personal finance and business travel. I've also compiled my podcasts for the Guardian travel website. My investment analyst background means that I can turn my hand to just about any area of finance.
